About

Quick facts: A small island lies in the middle of a picturesque lake, measuring only 52 meters in diameter. It can be reached by boat or a traditional "pletna" boat, giving the journey a special atmosphere.

Highlights: There is a tradition regarding the bell in the tower: if a couple places a ring on the bell's pull rope, it brings luck to their marriage. One of the island's landmarks is the 99 steps, which are a challenge to climb but reward you with a wonderful panorama of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

Insider tips

  • Bring comfortable shoes, as climbing the 99 steps can be physically demanding.
  • Book your boat ticket in advance during the summer peak season to avoid waiting in line.
  • For photography, the morning hours are best when the water reflects the surroundings.
  • If you can, visit on weekdays when there are fewer visitors.
